Event information
The Darwin Youth Contender event has attracted a strong entries from from Chinese Taipei, Singapore, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, USA and New Zealand.
The Australian contingent includes two local Darwin juniors: Runshu Li who is ranked 6th in Australia in <13 girls and Sebastian Lai who was ranked in the top 10 for<12 boys last year.
Other players to watch include:
* Connie PSIHOGIOS from Victoria. Connie is only 13 years old and will be playing in <15 & <17 yrs girls singles. Connie is now ranked 22 in world <15 yrs girls rankings & 71 in <17yrs, following her clean sweep of the <15, <19 & <21 girls singles events at the recently completed Oceania Championships in Melbourne.
* CHEN Chi-Shiuan from Chinese Taipei. She is currently ranked 16 in the world in <17 girls singles & 29 <19 yrs.
* Hansini MATHAN from India is ranked 1 in the world in <13 yrs girls singles & 84 in <17 yrs.
*Hwan BAE from NSW. Hwan also did very well at the recent Oceania Championships, winning gold in <15 yrs boys singles, silver in <19 boys doubles and bronze in both <19 and <21 yrs boys singles events.
The event runs from Tuesday 27th to Thursday 29th September at Marrara Indoor Stadium, starting at 9.00am and finishing between 6.30pm and 8pm each evening. Admission is free.
